Class Coach
Chelsea joined a crossfit gym in the fall of 2014 with a set of body composition goals. Those goals ended up taking nine years to achieve, but by then it didn't matter. It barely took nine weeks before she cared much more about how much she could lift, how she felt during workouts, and whether she could do a pull up. Her new performance goals differed significantly from the cultural zeitgeist she had absorbed up until then about what she (and women in general) should look like or weigh in order to be healthy. Celebrating what her body could do worked much better for Chelsea than focusing solely on things like her weight. She has stuck with the sport ever since. A teacher by trade, Chelsea enjoys coaching because it permits her to share a performance-based perspective on routine fitness with others.
Why join CEF??
For me personally, functional fitness ended up working better for long-term health and performance than the sports I had participated in during high school and college. I respond much better to having strength and performance goals than I do to having goals associated with bodyweight or body composition.
